Restaurant: Beleza

I went to Beleza a few months ago after an unpleasant experience at Rafiki's. We had a rather quirky waitress however, she was efficient. The Italian food was delicious and they have great wine by the glass. I will go there again to write up more details about them. I recommend the pasta.

Movie: Slumdog Millionaire

I watched Slumdog Millionaire with high expectations as I had already seen and loved The Curious Case of Bejamin Button and knew that it had lost the Oscar to Slumdog. Not only were my expectaions met, but they were definitely exceeded.

I can see why this would win best picture at the Oscars. It is in a league of its own. It is gutsy, real, endearing, serious and funny while telling the difficult story of growing up in extreme poverty and living by your wits.

Tip

If you are going to see this movie in the theatre, please don't get up until the main titles are done. There is a treat there not to be missed.

Restaurant: Doppio Zero

Doppio Zero is a delightful Italian Restaurant in Claremont, part of the Cavendish Connect. It is an ideal place to go to before a movie.

Menu:

Vast menu with offering delicious Italian food, coffee, smoothies, sandwhiches and much more. You will definitely not get bored with this menu any time soon.

Service:

The service is very good. If you want excellent service, make sure that you get the tall waiter with the pigtails (a guy). He is knowledgable, charming and efficient. I will have to find out what his name is the next time I go there.

Availability:

Going there on a Sunday night was not good for availability. But the menu is extensive, allowing for alternatives to be easily found.

Lunch time on a Friday (allbeit at the end of the month) is very noisy. This does not mean that the srvice was not good, in fact the service was excellent, but that the other patrons were excessively noisy.

Bathrooms:

I do not know if they have a bathroom. I will have to check next time.

Bakery:

They have a delicious bakery at the restaurant enterance. I recommend the Gingerbread People and the HUGE muffins - delicious. The shortbread is also good, although I got a lot of powder in my mug when I dunked them in my coffee at home (I just have to dunk)!

Website: All My Faves

All My Faves is a great website to use when looking for other websites. It is very easy to use. The only problem is that the websites are largely US based which does not help when you want to go internet shopping.
